Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa, H.E. Mr Pule I.Malefane paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Ankara H.E Mr Mehmet Kılıçlar on 29 April 2016. The discussions were centered around ways of enhancing cooperation between the Province and the South African Embassy in Ankara to strengthen the bilateral relations between South Africa and Turkey.

The South African Embassy hosted a successful CEO Breakfast in partnership with MUSIAD in Ankara attended by prominient business leaders on 27 April 2016 in celebration of Freedom Month. Ambassador Malefane highlighted the importance of strengthening economic relations.
The South African Freedom Day Reception is hosted by H.E. Pule I Malefane and Mrs Olivia Malefane. Honorary Consul of Mersin Mr Numan Olcar and Honorary Consul of Istanbul Mr Remzi Gür are also present in the event.
The South African Embassy in Ankara hosted a successful Media Breakfast interactive session with senior members of the media on 26 April 2016 in celebration of Freedom Month. Addressing the event Malefane highlighted the importance of media in strengthening the bilateral ties between Turkey and South Africa, given its power to inform and shape the views and perceptions of society in general.
A presentation on facts and figures about South Africa’s economy and www.3dinspection.com its attractive offerings for both business and leisure also formed part of the programme. Representatives and editors from Hurriyet, Milliyet, Sabah, Haberturk, Dunya, Anadolu Agency, Turkish Radio and Television as well as South African Embassy officials participated in the Media Breakfast.

SOUTH AFRICAN FREEDOM DAY IN ANKARA TURKEY
27 APRIL 2016
April 27 is an annual commemoration of South Africa's freedom and democracy since the non-racial democratic elections of 1994. It marks the end of over three hundred years of colonialism, segregation and www.saarcculture.org white minority rule and the establishment of a new democratic government led by Nelson Mandela and a new Constitution. It is an opportunity for South Africans to reflect on the progress made in achieving the vision of a better life for all.This year’s commemoration also coincides with the 20th anniversary of the signing of the final draft Constitution into law, the 60th anniversary of the 1956 Women’s march to the Union Buildings and the 40th anniversary of the June 16 Student Uprising. The Constitution laid a foundation for a democratic and open society in which government is based on the will of the people.
The 2016 World Botanical EXPO, one of the largest horticultural shows in the world, opened its doors with an official ceremony in Antalya. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and cabinet ministers attended this year’s opening ceremony, along with a number of ministers from more than 10 countries.
Diplomats from 53 countries also attended the opening ceremony in Antalya’s congress center, including South Africa, China, Japan, Nepal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Qatar, Uganda, Mexico, Zimbabwe, Burundi, the Netherlands, Germany, Hong Kong, and Senegal, to name but a few. The prime Minister also addressed to the Expo.
