Ambassador Malefane’s programme includes a courtesy call to the Governor of Mersin, H E Mr Özdemir Çakacak and Lord Mayor of Mersin, H E Mr Burhanettin Kocamaz. Ambassador Malefane presented his letter of credence to the President of the Republic of Turkey, H. E. Mr Recep Tayyib Erdogan, at a reception at the Presidential Complex in Ankara on 22 March 2016. Ambassador Malefane previously served as the Consulate General of South Africa in Mumbai, India. Ambassador Malefane also, as part of the presentation of his letter of credence ceremony, laid a wreath at the Aniktkabir, the monument where the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Kemal Ataturk, is buried on 24 March 2016.
In 2016 South Africa celebrates its 22nd year of Freedom and Democracy. During this time South Africa has focussed on addressing the inequalities of the past.
