Welcome to the South African Embassy website.
Freedom Month
Freedom Month is observed in April throughout South Africa to celebrate the dawn of freedom and democracy and the achievements of all South Africans in moving away from hatred, divisions and a painful history to build a common future together.
April will forever resonate in the history of our nation as the month that saw the first democratic elections in 1994 that gave birth to freedom and constitutional democracy in South Africa.
Congratulatory Message on the successful hosting of the Municipal elections
The South African Embassy in Ankara, Turkey would like to congratulate the Government of Turkey and its citizens on the holding of a peaceful and successful election.
South Africa National Election
The official date for the national elections in the Republic of South Africa is set for 8 May, 2019 and the official dates for South Africans abroad is scheduled for Saturday 27 April, 2019 from 07:00 to 21:00. South African embassies, high commissions and consulates are the designated voting stations for those living abroad.
The South African Embassy in Ankara will be assisting South African citizens on 27 April 2019 at the Embassy premises and it would like remind its citizens to bring their South African identity card and their valid South African passport to vote in the SA National Election. South Africans in Turkey are urged to prioritise their vote casting as an act of strengthening the country’s young democracy. South African citizens are further reminded to bring along their valid South African identity cards and South African passports to be able to vote in the National Elections.
Freedom Day
The 1994 breakthrough promotes the values of freedom and democracy that are an integral part of our Constitutional democracy.
In celebration of the first free and fair democratic elections and the historic participation of all South African citizens in the democratic process, the South African Embassy in Ankara, Turkey will be celebrating 25 years of freedom, independence and democracy by hosting a number of events that seek to honour and promote the values of South Africa and the importance of this day.
It will be hosting, a Political Seminar, a Trade and Investment Seminar including a South African Golf Networking session in collaboration with the South African Armed Forces all in commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of Freedom Day.
The South African Embassy looks forward to hosting our friends and colleagues at these events. Also we encourage all our citizens to vote for a better South Africa.
