Update on Consular Regulations

In terms of Section 12 of the Immigration Act, 2007 (Act No.3 of 2007) implemented on the 26th May 2014, it is deemed that all applications are to be presented in Person outlined under Regulation (9), Sub-Regulation (2)(a)(b). 

Only Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan citizens DO NOT have to submit visaapplications in person at the Embassy in Ankara, Turkey. Applicants may utilize a courier company with a prepaid consignment or pay on delivery.

 

South African / Azerbaijan / Uzbekistan passport holders without residence permit or work permit for Turkey

Due to new regulations of the Turkish banking system, South African / Azerbaijan / Uzbekistan passport holders without residence permit or work permit for Turkey will not be allowed to physically deposit any kind of cash to the Embassy account at Işbank. Please make sure to deposit your application fee through other channels prior to your appointment. Also make sure you have the bank receipt with you at your appointment time.

 

IMMIGRATION DIRECTIVE NO 22 OF 2019

FOREIGN CHILDREN FROM VISA EXEMPT COUNTRIES ENTERING OR DEPARTING THE REPUBLIC

I, Dr PA Motsoaledi, MP, Minister of Home Affairs has, with the powers bestowed upon me in terms of section 31(2)(c) of the Immigration Act, 2002 (Act No 13 of 2002), decided to grant a waiver to foreign children from visa exempt countries entering or departing the Republic from complying with the provisions of regulation 6(12B)(c)of the Immigration Regulations, 2014 whilst the Department is in the process of finalising the amendments to the Immigration Regulations in this regard.

This means that foreign visa exempt children are no longer required to present a birth certificate, parental consent letter or other supporting documentation such as a death certificate or court order when travelling with one parent/legal guardian or someone other than a parent/legal guardian.

This waiver is granted on condition that all other requirements for entry and departure from the Republic shall be complied with.

This Immigration Directive must be brought to the attention of all relevant officials. This Immigration Directive is confidential and for internal use only.
