Freedom Month Events 2017
As part of the Freedom Day celebrations, the first South Africa-Turkey Golf Tournament was hosted by H E Ambassador Pule Malefane on 26 April 2017 with participants from South Africa, city of Ekurhuleni and Turkey at the Ankara Golf Club. Many prizes were awarded the winning participants including invitations to the BMW Pro-Am Tournament in South Africa for the top 6 men’s finishers and the top 2 women finishers.
On 27 April 2017, a successful South Africa Media Breakfast was hosted by H.E. Ambassador Pule Malefane. Ekurhuleni Head of the Department of Marketing, Ms Rego Mavimbela, and editors from Turkish newspapers participated in the Media Breakfast.
A successful South Africa-Turkey Trade and Investment Business Seminar was held in cooperation with the Turkish Industrialists Businesswomen and Businessmen Confederation (SANKON) as an economic diplomacy activity preceding the South African Freedom Day Reception. H.E. Ambassador Pule Malefane highlighted the importance of increasing the trade volume between the two countries.
Later in the evening the 23th South African Freedom Day Reception was hosted by H.E. Ambassador Pule Malefane and Mrs Olivia Malefane with the participation of members of the Ekurhuleni Municipality, Honorary Consul of Istanbul Mr Remzi Gür, representatives from the Turkish Government, members of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives of the Business Sector and Turkish Media. Turkish Minister of Education, H.E. İsmet Yılmaz attended the event.
