SOUTH AFRICA – What are you waiting for?

South Africa will be participating at the EMITT 2018, the 22nd year of South Africa’s participation in the East Mediterranean Travel Fair. South Africa has been a participant since EMITT’s inception and has continued to support the largest Tourism Fair in Turkey. In 2018 South Africa’s participation will be organised by South African Tourism together with the South African Embassy in Turkey. 11 tour operators from across the country will be participating at South Africa’s Stand in Hall 2.

South Africa is a world-class tourist destination, renowned as the place where visitors can enjoy a vast array of attractions and experiences in the heart of tourism in South Africa and the African continent. From safaris to health tourism, extreme sports, diving with sharks, exploring the floral kingdom – South Africa has it all. It is the only country to have an entire floral kingdom within its borders. The Cape Floral Kingdom contains the most concentrated variety of fauna, 8 500 flowers, the richest variety on earth. South Africa has 23 200 plant species, a greater variety than of the entire northern half of the planet.  South Africa also has the “Big Five” – elephant, lion, leopard, rhinoceros and buffalo; the “Sea Big Five” – Right Whale, Great White Shark, endangered Bottlenose Dolphin, Blue Marlin and Tuna; as well as the “Little Five” – elephant shrew, ant lion, rhinoceros beetle, buffalo weaver and leopard tortoise.

South Africa is the strongest financial and industrial power in Africa and has consistently been in the top 10 as one of the world’s most transparent economies. From the industrial and financial hub of Johannesburg to the stunning visual delight of Cape Town’s Table Mountain and the vibrant always buzzing Cape Town Waterfront, Cape Town is a city alive with possibilities. Rich in history and natural beauty, the Mother City, as it is commonly known, is a melting pot of cultures and as such offers its visitors tastes, sounds and feelings that can be found nowhere else in the world.

‘Melting pot of cultures’ is a description which can be applied to any place in South Africa; whether you are spending New Year’s on the beach in Durban, travelling through the Garden Route with its wild beauty, the Karoo with its arid landscape and outcroppings of rock or enjoying the blooming of the fields in Namaqualand or the Jacaranda trees in Pretoria, South Africa has something for everyone. Many events, including world class golf tournaments, horse-racing, fashion shows and film festivals etc, South Africa has it all.

South Africa’s rich cultural heritage reflects its status as one of mankind’s earliest settlements, having been settled by the Australopithecus africanus, more than 3 million years ago with the SAN, a stone-age people who inhabited large areas of what was to become South Africa. World class hospitality and infrastructure makes travelling in South Africa convenient and suited to the most discerning of tastes.
