SA National Day and Heritage Day Reception
The South African Embassy in Turkiye held a festive joint commemoration of the 29th anniversary of Freedom Day and the annual National Heritage Day on Friday, 22 September 2023.
The Deputy Minister Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye, H.E. Mehmet Kemal BOZAY, and H.E. Ambassador Letsatsi-Duba both spoke of intentions to further solidify relations between South Africa and Turkiye - which share a renown for their rich histories and culture.
South Africa's Freedom and Living Heritage was commemorated in proudly South African food and beverages, song, dance - in the advancement of *one* human race.
South Africa's Honorary Consuls in Istanbul and Izmir, Mr Remzi Gur and Mr Tamer Taskin, as well as companies trading with South Africa, including key investment partner, Arcelik, graced the event with their presence.
The Dean of Diplomatic Corps, the Dean of African Diplomatic Corps, Ambassadors and diplomats from all geographic regions, including BRICS Plus partners amongst others, joined in the celebration - which also enunciated the admirable values of South Africa's founding father and global icon, Nelson Mandela.
